The department of Management and business development of University of Ruse organized “Day & Night of Entrepreneurship” on 29 and 30 September. The event was based on the experience from the STARTENT project and it’s Night of young entrepreneurs from March 2011. The goal was to put student, entrepreneurs and academics in interactive environment that could foster cooperation and useful contacts among all participants.

In the “Day & Night of Entrepreneurship” event 24 students from 5 European countries were selected to participate in the panel sessions. Together with business representatives the students discussed the characteristics of the business environment on the Balkans, that investors find as attractive and the reasons for situating of new ventures in that region. The group visited several production companies in the city of Ruse and had the chance to meet their managers and owners and to ask questions about their business activity and lessons learned from their experience.
An important part from the program was the training for entrepreneurial skills, creativity and teamwork. Students worked in teams with 11 representatives of 11 local and international business organizations, who gave the topics for the role-model situations and together with the professors assessed the performance of each team. All the participants received certificates for successful participation of the event, and those with best results were awarded with special certificates for business skills.
The event was organized with the help and co-funding of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the International academic network for entrepreneurship and innovations RESITA. It is perceived as the next stage form the experience of University of Ruse in Entrepreneurship education and the transfer of knowledge between academia and business entities and sustainable continuation of the impact of STARTENT project.

This last STARTENT meeting was the time to discuss not only about the goals of the projects, but also about their dissemination. The intention of all STARTENT partners is to continue working in this field: fostering entrepreneurship among young people in constant communication with the Business sector. 

As part of STARTENT dissemination activities,in cooperation with the Politecnico di Torino and the I3P, it was organised the final presentation of the course “Entrepreneurship and Business Planning”. Such course is part of the lastsemester of the Master of Science program in “Industrial Engineering and Management” and is complementary to other projects developed by Politecnico di Torino Technology Incubators, cooperationwith the regional association of employers and with investors) aimed at promoting entrepreneurial talent amongst the student and research communities.

The STARTENT partners met last April at University of Ruse, Bulgaria. As it was meant to be last meeting of the project, conclusions were made regarding the development of the project.
Main subjects discussed during the meeting:

  • A new search engine is available for finding Entrepreneurial PUBLICATIONS
  • LinkedIn and Facebook forums are still open for public discussion
  • Young Entrepreneur's Night has been held in the different partners countries, becoming one of the most popular STARTENT activities
  • Last updates to STARTENT Publications were made:
    • Success Stories of Young European Entrepreneurs,
    • Case Studies Book on Entrepreneurship and Innovation & Business creation and management
    • Enterprise Education: Practice-Based Activities for encouraging the Entrepreneurial mind.

Workshop: ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT: ACTIVATING CREATIVITY AND CONFINDENCE

Nottingham Business School in cooperation with HIVE is organising a workshop within the framework of STARTENT project on the 8th October 2010. The aim of the workshop is to provide participants with practical skills in order to generate fresh thinking, new ideas and critical insights and discover techniques to help thrive success through entrepreneurship.

The workshop will include two interactive sessions:

Session 1 (09.45-12.30): Facilitating Creativity, Orlanda Harvey, Cranfield University

An intensive ½ day workshop seeking to give participants practical skills to generate fresh thinking, new ideas and critical insights to help solve specific business challenges

Session 2 (14.30-16.30): Creatively Confident, Sarah McNicol, Nottingham Trent University
